TESCO: REVISED PROPOSALS - UPDATE

Yesterday Tesco discussed revised proposals - see the GF & 1F Car Deck plans - with representatives of CPCA committee, the Church, Planning Dept. and Ward Councillors. (CPCA’s objection to the stopping- up was not discussed). This note with drawings supersedes that posted 28:09:11.

The changes previously reported remain:
• Area of the Tesco store similar to the 2009 scheme but reconfigured and located at ground level.
• H.G.V. access ramp and first floor service bay omitted; bay now at ground level. • Under-store car park omitted
• The petrol station to remain in its current location
• All flats omitted.
• Car parking, with possible exception of the disabled, on two storeys, to the east of de Montfort Way.

In addition, Tesco now propose the following revisions:
• Special needs C.P. spaces added adjacent to the entrance lobby to the West of the store
• The two way vehicle access / egress adjacent to the two lifts in the Deck car park entrance lobby area has been changed to egress only.
• The Recycling area has been relocated to the East of St Joseph's Church.
• Turn right lanes added to the road adjacent to Shultern Lane to prevent cars waiting to turn right into the car park impeding the flow of traffic
• The footpath adjacent to the back gardens of Squires Way properties is relocated alongside the road to the South of the car park providing a wider buffer.
• The landscaping buffer between Lynchgate Road and the service road to the South of the service yard has been increased in width.

It should be noted:
• The ‘Medical Centre’ shown at first floor level is omitted and should be disregarded.
• The ‘bus stop remains in its current position.
• Stopping- up of de Montfort Way applies.
• The circulatory road around the car park is a Tesco maintained road – it is not a highway.

Again, this is a discussion document - NOT a firm scheme.

It is essential that residents make their views known at an early stage when change is more easily effected. Subject to room availability, it is your committee’s intention, shortly, to display / discuss the preliminary proposals; comments can be forwarded to Tesco.

This is your opportunity to influence a scheme which will have a significant effect on Cannon Park.

In due course Tesco intend to exhibit more firm proposals - to be followed at a later date by a formal ‘questions / answer’ meeting of residents or Forum.
